This vintage Indian painting by artist V. M. Raikar was hand-painted and processed at Vitrum Studio in Bombay, India. It is a four-tile painting adhered to a wood backing. It features a graceful Rajasthani woman in traditional attire, depicted in an elegant kneeling pose. The vibrant colors and clean linework reflect the ceramic tile painting tradition popular in Indian studio art during the 1960s–1970s.
The piece is large measuring approximately 11 7/8" x 11 7/8" square. In wonderful condition with no scratches. There is one very tiny crack on the edge of upper right tile, but it is hardly noticeable. Great colors and textures from the hand-painting process. All four tiles are securely adhered to the wood backing. This is a beautiful collector's piece!
The artwork is signed by the artist and retains its original paper backing with printed studio label from Vitrum Studio, Cumballa Hill, Bombay. It includes a metal hanging loop for easy wall display.
