The Quaker Silver Co. of Attleboro, MA was incorporated in 1926 and Harold K. Green served as president and sales manager while James W. Jennings was treasurer and general manager. In 1929, Jennings met Belle Kogan who was just starting in the field of art and design as well as working in her father’s jewelry store in New York City. The most popular product of Quaker Silver Co. was salt and pepper shaker sets, many of which Ms. Kogan, the designer, sold in her father’s store. In 1959, the Quaker Silver Co. was sold to Gorham Manufacturing.
This Quaker Silver Company "Newport Sterling" Weighted Crystal Salt and Pepper Shaker Set was made between 1929 and 1959. The set is in the original box and does not appear to have ever been used. The shaker set is in excellent condition with no scratches, chips, or cracks and each shaker measures 2.75" tall with a 1.5" diameter weighted base. This attractive Quaker Silver Company "Newport Sterling" Weighted Crystal Salt and Pepper Shaker Set would make a gorgeous addition to any collection of unique depression period glass or function as a dining table shaker set!
