Antique Bavarian Porcelain Decorative Plate with Woodcock/Sandpiper Bird in Marsh/Woodland - Germany

$28.99

Shipping to United States: $5.99

This beautiful antique Bavarian porcelain plate features a woodcock or a sandpiper in marsh woodlands. It has a gold-gilded, scalloped rim. These plates are often referred to as "game bird plates" due to their common depictions of various game birds, or "cabinet plates" as they were intended for display in a china cabinet rather than daily use.

Key characteristics include fine porcelain material, hand-painted bird imagery, and decorative elements such as the scalloped edge and gold trim. The details are stunning!

There appears to be number printed on the back, but I am unable to read the numbers. This plate is in excellent condition for its old age. Some of the gold trim has minor wear. There is some crazing that appears to be mainly on the back of the plate. Please see all photos as they are part of the description.

There are two holes at the top back of the plate for hanging with string.

Plate measures 8 1/2' in diameter.

The plate was most likely made by Porzellanfabrik Moschendorf in Bavaria, Germany.
These types of plates, often referred to as "game bird plates," were produced by Porzellanfabrik Moschendorf during the period of 1895-1910

This plate would be beautiful hanging in a man cave or as a more masculine accent in a wall display.
