This vintage rectangle Metzke pewter holiday Santa Tin is remarkable.
I was quite surprised by the heavy weight, detailed design and technique put into this piece.
It is in Good Vintage Condition
There are NO Cracks. Some very tiny dents on bottom, but in overall good condition. Beautiful Christmas decoration!
Vintage Metzke pewter tin featuring Santa Claus. While a specific production date for this particular piece isn't available, Metzke has been in operation since 1978. Pewter items, like this one, were commonly produced from tin alloyed with lead, and sometimes copper, with older pieces having a higher lead content which causes them to tarnish faster and have a darker, silver-gray oxidation. The design of Santa Claus as depicted on the tin is reminiscent of illustrations from the 19th century, particularly those by Thomas Nast, who popularized the red-suited Santa in his Harper's Weekly cartoons starting in 1862.
